Delete your Baku account

In the app

1. Open Baku and go to Settings.
2. Under Your data, tap Delete my account.
3. Confirm with Delete my account.

Settings then shows the day your account will be deleted. Until then you can cancel the deletion with Keep my account.

You only see Delete my account when you are signed in. If you never signed in, there is no Baku account, and your journal is stored only on your phone.

By email, without the app

Write to support@baku.care from the email address you use for Baku and ask us to delete your account. If you sign in with Apple or Google, tell us which one, and write from the email address of that account.

We answer within 30 days and may ask you to confirm your identity. Then we schedule the deletion, and the same 30 days apply as in the app.

What happens next

For 30 days your account is inactive. This grace period is there in case you change your mind. During that time you can cancel the deletion.

After 30 days, your account and all its data are permanently deleted:

• your account details, such as your email address and name;
• your dreams, rewrites, nights, check-ins and everything else in your journal;
• your recordings and every other file you stored;
• sleep data from Apple Health, Health Connect, WHOOP or Oura;
• what the Guide remembers about you, and partner mode with its voice notes and messages.

We also revoke Baku's access at WHOOP or Oura and delete your record at RevenueCat, which manages subscriptions for us. Deleted data is removed from backups within a further 30 days.

What we keep

Data we must keep by law, such as payment records, is kept only for the statutory period and only for that purpose. Messages to support are kept until 24 months after the conversation ends.

Your subscription

Deleting your account does not cancel a Baku Plus subscription. Subscriptions are bought and billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play, so cancel yours in your App Store or Google Play account settings, at the latest 24 hours before the end of the period:

• On iPhone: your App Store subscriptions
• On Android: your Google Play subscriptions

In Baku, Manage subscription in Settings takes you to the same place. Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies.
